FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) has announced the male U18 divisions will compete in an inaugural CSSHL East West Challenge held in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, Quebec on February 5-8, 2026.
The event will host 14 teams from across Canada as they compete in a showcase style event. All teams will play a minimum of four games, with two teams taking part in a fifth and final Championship game.
The CSSHL has established itself as leaders in education-based hockey in North America with 839 student-athletes having been selected in the WHL Draft since 2015, including notable names such as Connor Bedard (North Shore Warriors) Gavin McKenna (RHA Kelowna/South Alberta Hockey Academy) and Landon DuPont (Edge School).
The CSSHL has seen rapid expansion the last few seasons, and hosting events like the East West Challenge is an integral part of that growth. Along with the CSSHL National Championships slated for the 2026/27 season, these competitions will unite the Eastern and Western Divisions, to create a nation-wide feel within the league.
“This will provide a great opportunity to showcase talent across the CSSHL, not only for scouts but also for prospective student/athletes and their families,” says Ontario Hockey Academy Director and CSSHL EOC Member Patrick Turcotte.
The following teams have been confirmed for the 2026 CSSHL East West Challenge:
Eastern Division
- Bouget College (Rigaud, QC)
- Fort Erie International Academy (Fort Erie, ON)
- Okanagan Hockey Ontario (Whitby, ON)
- Ontario Hockey Academy (Cornwall, ON)

“We are very excited to have the East and West going head-to-head,” said CSSHL CEO Andy Oakes. “Both sides of our league are growing and developing extremely well, and we look forward to bringing them together to see some of the best U18 hockey in the country happen within our league structure, hosted in Quebec.”
